Back on the mountain for the new year!
Conditions are definitely super-firm, otherwise known to native West Coast skiers as “ice”. Â Those of us who grew up skiing in the East know what real ice is. Â 😉 Â Despite the firm conditions, it was sunny, cold and great to be outside making turns again. Â Word on the mountain is that this was the past few days had been colder and windier.
The sunshine did soften things up as bit towards the end of the day. Â I was tipped off to some surprisingly good proto-corn out at the far end of Judah bowl, and Summit was open to get there.
Unfortunately the weather outlook is sunny and dry for the next week at least. Â Temps will warm up a little. Â I’m planning on refining my follow-the-sun strategy, getting a good goggle tan, and in general enjoying the January spring.
